Jacob Hood is a P.h.D. candidate (ABD) in the Department of Sociology at New York University, where he is also affiliated with the Center for Critical Race and Digital Studies and the Prison Education Program Research Lab. He is primarily a scholar of race and the carceral state who uses qualitative, computational, and archival methods.

He anticipates entering the academic job market in the 2025-2026 cycle.
