Amber Hamilton is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Her research focuses on race and the Internet, social network analysis, and the sociology of media. Amber’s dissertation explores digital Blackness on Black Twitter and the repurposing of Black Twitter content in digital-first news media.
Amber is a fellow in the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She has previously worked as a research intern at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University and her work has been supported by fellowships from the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Advanced Study, the Edelstein Family Foundation, and the Race, Indigeneity, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Initiative.
